E Jelly Bean - Refill Requests

 The "E" Jelly Bean is where a Provider will find any Electronic Refill Requests from outside pharmacies.  The following will show you how to process these requests inside of eCW.


  1.   Click on your E Jelly Bean to open all refill requests.  Double-click the line for the request that you would like to open.   
  2.  Often when the patient is first selected, the following message will pop-up, prompting the user to match the patient manually. This ensures that the user is matching the request to the correct patient prior to moving forward. Click OK and the eRX window will open.  Verify the patient's name and date of birth. Match the patient by clicking on the button to the right of the name. This will open the standard Patient Lookup window.  Select the correct patient and click OK.
  3. Prescription information shows in the following section. This information cannot be changed. This shows Prescribing Provider, Pharmacy Information, and Medication Prescribed Information.  
  4.  If the refill does not belong to the user, user can "Assign" the refill to another user using this box.  Select the user from the drop-down, followed by clicking the "Assign Refill Rx" button. 
  5. Refill Responses occur in the folIowing section:   Approved - Sends the approval for the current rx refill  Approved with Changes -  Click on "Select Rx" OR "Cur Rx" to deny this refill request and send a new prescription. Denied  -  Denies the refill request. The user MUST choose a reason for the denial from the drop down list.
    Denied New Rx to Follow -  Denies the refill Rx. Lets the pharmacy know that the prescriber is writing a new prescription, however this must be done in a Telephone Encounter or Progress Note.  
  6.  Send the response by clicking on "Send Response" OR "Next(SendRx)"
